Why won’t Libs hear Obama’s treasury counsel that the 14th Amendment can’t be used to raise the debt ceiling?

“Thе Constitution explicitly places thе borrowing authority wіth Congress, nοt thе President,” Treasury Department General Counsel George W. Madison wrote.

“Lіkе еνеrу previous Secretary οf thе Treasury whο hаѕ confronted thе qυеѕtіοn, Secretary Geithner hаѕ always viewed thе debt limit аѕ a binding legal constraint thаt саn οnlу bе raised bу Congress.”

I believe that accusation was raised on FOX, not by the Left.

  2. John E says:

They read the Constitution as poorly as the ‘constitutional scholar’ known as Obama.

  3. firewomen says:

I suggest you really read the 14th Amendment

They never listen to anything they don’t want to hear, thus they are liberals. They think that the POTUS can do anything he wants to do regardless of the Constitution. They don’t even believe in States rights and think the government should be the end all be all stealing money from others to pay for those who choose not to be production and blame the right for all of the Countries woos leaving out history or facts.

    I have an suggestion.

Let’s see an intelligent and workable alternative plan from the GOP that doesn’t throw 100 million americans off a cliff.

See, the thing is, they don’t have any such plan. They don’t care who gets hurt when the economy implodes when no agreement is reached and the stock market drops like a stone. This won’t be an adjustment. It will make the Great Depression look mild by comparison.

If you think things are bad now, just hang around until the first week of August. Get ready for a real horror show. And kiss your remaining jobs good bye.

And the other half of the truth is ” The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. ”

So since Obama can’t override the budget, if the “make the workers pay for it” Republicans force the U. S. into default, the only recourse would be to initiate impeachment proceedings on them for violating the constitution and their oath of office.

It doesn’t mean he can’t help with negotiations.

And guess who has a big old veto vote.

  8. Paul Grass™? says:

Because they have an aversion to the truth and the Constitution
