I wουld lονе tο gο tο a treatment centre јυѕt tο hаνе thе time аnd space…јυѕt a time-out really tο really focus οn myself аnd heal myself. Thе οnlу problem іѕ i саn’t afford іt, i сουld аѕk mу parents fοr a loan οf money whісh i wουld pay thеm back bυt i dont want tο take οn a debt. I сουld dο јυѕt normal counselling, i dο hаνе enough fοr thаt, bυt whаt i dont lіkе аbουt thаt іѕ i’m still involved іn mу daily tasks, іtѕ nοt thе proper time аnd space whісh i feel i need tο really gеt better аnd gеt over thіѕ depression.

  1. Nia S says:

I am in my 20s too and i had depression when I was 12.
    I suffered a nervous breakdown when i was 15.
Basically i begged my parents to take me see a psychiatrist when i was 15 but that was a long time ago.
After i recovered from my breakdown i was basically numb.
I couldnt heal and I didnt know why but I didn’t feel anything.

I wanted to go on a meditation retreat program like you, but over here where I live, there is no such programme. Besides it was a taboo to society as it is relatively unknown.
What I finally did to gain closure was :

    1) I read Dale Carnegie’s How to stop worrying and start living.
I learned to live life in day tight compartments and take it one day at a time.
I realise that some things happen just because they had to happen, so why fight it.
    Just learn from it.
perhaps there is something you can learn from this experience.
I certainly learned A LOT from my breakdown.

    2) I read Dale Carnegie’s book on How to win friends and influence people.

3)I listened to some hypnosis meditation cds, I am pretty sure you can find them on amazon. com.
Listen to healing depression programmes and building self esteem.

    4) engage in sport/dance/exercise.

Of course, nothing works better than working , working and working day and night to forget your problems.
Of course, if you are severely down i would suggest you to come clean with your parents and ask them to take you to a doctor, and get some medication.

If counselling is not working then you should try something else. find out what activities they do at the treatment centre and try to emulate that at home.

you WILL feel better, i promise, and when you do, You wont forget this moment or take your life and happiness for granted. . .
