Try going to the Navy Federal Credit Union and talk to them about a loan. Try to see if you can have payments taken out of both your mid-month and end-of-month pay having half the monthly payment taken out of each check. I’m not sure if they can do this or not (taking it half at a time). But, even if they can’t do that, they might be able to consolidate everything and make your payments lower. As you progress through the ranks and get raises, you can pay it off faster. Try to stick with a military credit union so you don’t get messed over by a civilian bank or loan consolidation company. They can turn your life into misery.

Another option which is legal, but not too ethical, is to pay as much of the student loans off as possible with credit cards and then, after a few months, file for bankruptcy. Student loans can never be forgiven. But, you can recover from bankruptcy. However, I know nothing about bankruptcy. I just know that you can recover from it.

Another option is to find a field that the Navy needs and apply to the Navy Enlisted-to-Officer Program. If you qualify for that and can get promoted, at the very least, you’ll get a pay raise. You are 75% on the way to a degree, this might be a way to complete it.

If the Navy Federal Credit Union can’t help you, ask their financial advice. Ask him or her how you can best handle this situation.
